Job Description

Reporting to the Regional Vice President of Operations, the Sr. Club Operations Director will be responsible for maintaining Equinox Standards across an assigned market area. This leadership role demands a deep understanding of Club management, with a focus on driving sales, enhancing the member experience, and ensuring that the Equinox’s luxury image is consistently upheld. The Sr. Director of Club Operations will lead and manage a group of General Managers and will with closely to lead Club and Ancillary teams, implement strategic initiatives and hold teams accountable for delivering results. The Sr. Director of Club Operations will have a strong presence in driving membership sales, maintaining operational excellence, and fostering a culture of success, guided by our core values.

Operations Management

  • Member experience and satisfaction
  • Facilities maintenance and cleanliness
  • Staff management and development
  • Group fitness programming
  • Personal training programs
  • Compliance with safety and hygiene standards

Financial Performance

  • Achieve revenue targets and control expenses
  • Manage budgets and analyze financial reports
  • Identify opportunities for growth and profitability

Team Leadership

  • Recruit, hire, train, and develop department managers
  • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment
  • Motivate and inspire staff to achieve goals
  • Conduct performance reviews and provide feedback

Member Engagement

  • Build relationships with members and address their needs
  • Resolve member complaints and issues
  • Create a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere
  • Brand Standards:
  • Ensure adherence to Equinox brand guidelines and service standards
  • Maintain a high level of professionalism and presentation
  • •Implement marketing and promotional initiatives

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Daily

  • Team Engagement - huddles, meetings, workouts
  • Coaching GMs - Focusing on leadership and strategy
  • Club Visit and Walk Through - 1-2 clubs/day 
  • 1on1 business meetings with GMs, AGMs and Regional Leaders
  • Review clubs appointments - previous day activities (prospects, sales, equifits) 
  • Structured 1on1 GM Meetings - 30 min in person at least 2-3x/week
  • Schedule Accountability - Checking schedules on arcon, verifying in person

Monthly

  • GM & AGM development - ensuring it's happening (either directly or GM is delivering), schedule, reviews, learning 
  • People Pipeline - Staffing for future needs, identifying talent for growth
  • Sales Strategy and Accountability - ensure systems and processes are being followed
  • Alignment and collaboration with regionals - AE, Ancillary, Sales
  • Attend PT Forums when applicable
  • Stepping in when the GM requires support
  • Full facility inspections - 2/week
  • Meet with Regional leaders ancillary every other week/monthly
  • Calls - RVP Regional call, Senior Club Director call, GM call

PERFORMANCE TARGETS:

100-110% in the following areas:

  • New Sales 
  • Attrition
  • Total Operating Revenue/Earnings
  • Total Contribution/Profit

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in club operations, hospitality, fitness, or a related industry, with at least 3 years in a Sr. leadership role
  • Proven track record of overseeing multiple clubs (units) or a high-volume club (facility)
  • Strong background in upholding operational efficiency, utilizing & implementing standard operation procedures (SOPs), and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards
  • Experience in facility management, including maintenance, equipment, vendor relations, and tech integrations for operational excellence
  • Strong financial acumen, including budgeting, forecasting, P&L management, and cost control
  • Ability to develop and implement revenue growth strategies through membership sales, service offerings, and ancillary revenue streams
  • High proficiency in financial reporting, KPI tracking, and data-driven decision-making
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, inspire, and develop high-performing teams across multiple functions of the business
  • Experience in talent acquisition, performance management, and employee engagement
  • Strong leadership presence with the ability to drive a positive culture of accountability and performance
  • Understanding of member engagement strategies, retention, and delivering an exceptional member experience
  • Strong commitment to member engagement scores and ability to utilize feedback and implement improvements
  • Strong problem-solver and decision maker
  • In good standing, no RODs in the last 6 months
