Job Description

• Test and Assess climbing skills of prospective Rock Wall Instructors
• Test and Assess belaying skills of prospective Rock Wall Instructors
• Test and Assess safety skills of prospective Rock Wall Instructors
• Ability to provide belaying training to staff
• Provide evaluation on the hiring of prospective Rock Wall Instructors
• Shadow new hires to ensure they are compliant with safety and skills
• Set Routes and Boulder for all climbing abilities
• Set routes at both Sports Club NY and E61st climbing walls
• Assist with the cleaning of the wall
• Uphold safety standards and best practices for equipment (harnesses, ropes, auto-belay, shoes)
• Keep the equipment closet clean and tidy
• Be a team player and have a positive work attitude/environment

Qualifications

• 5 years of experience in a commercial climbing gym
• Belay certification
• Passionate about climbing
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge on current climbing trends and equipment
• Ability to climb/belay
• Ability to lift on average 50 lbs. daily
• Strong teamwork and communication skills
• Work-at-Height Certification a plus
• Active CPR/AED Certification
• Pay Transparency: $25.00 per hour
