Job Description

We are looking for energetic, creative, and enthusiastic FKO Assistant Teachers to join the Equinox team at its state-of-the-art fitness club located at Sports Club Boston! This is a great position for a candidate looking to work with young children in an educational environment.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist lead teacher in implementing all class curriculum.
  • Review the reservations sheet in order to prepare for the children.
  • Greet members and children by name.
  • Understand and support the children in their separation from the parent.
  • Assist children with personal hygiene.
  • Supervise children, maintain a clean, safe environment and implement all safety training requirements.
  • Set-up and clean-up of projects in the classroom.
  • Demonstrate understanding of For Kids Only philosophy.
  • Promote classes and special events.
  • Respond to member concerns, suggestions and complaints in a timely, professional and consistent manner.
  • Demonstrate awareness of the importance of membership sales and member retention; work to promote the Club in all areas.
  • Make equipment and supply recommendations and report low inventory levels to the Manager on a timely basis.
  • Demonstrate understanding of For Kids Only operations including reservation policy, enrollment procedures, series cards and policies.
  • Assist with special projects, events and promotions as needed.
  • All other duties as assigned.

MEMBER SERVICE

  • Respond to members concerns, suggestions and complaints in a timely, professional and consistent manner.
  • Consistently offer the highest level of personalized member service while maintaining a positive, enthusiastic and helpful attitude.
  • Exhibit awareness of and enthusiasm for all programs offered by the Club.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • College units in Child Development strongly preferred.
  • Current CPR Certification.
  • Current TB immunization.
  • Flexible schedule.

THINKING & REASONING

  • General intelligence and decision-making skills.
  • Must exhibit an ability to work with children.
  • Patience, empathy and listening skills.
  • Excellent human relations, communications, and member service skills.
  • Cooperative and friendly attitude.
  • Ability to work in groups, occasionally under pressure.
  • Continuous interaction with members, employees, and managers.
  • Ability to exhibit enthusiasm for the job, the Club, the Company.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES

  • Requires a wide range of constant physical activities, including but not limited to: sitting, standing, walking, bending, kneeling, twisting, pushing, pulling, and reaching.
  • Frequent repetitive movements.
  • Frequent movement, lifting or carrying of children or objects with weights up to 50 lbs.
  • Requires close, distance, peripheral vision and depth perception.

PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT

  • Frequent exposure to and use of household cleaning products.
  • Continuous exposure to moderate to loud noise.
  • Occasional exposure to blood or other bodily fluids.

Qualifications

The successful candidate must have the following experience, skills, and education:

  • College units in Child Development strongly preferred.
  • Experience in working with children of multiple age ranges in a group setting.
  • CPR certification preferred
  • A warm and patient demeanor along with excellent communication and multi-tasking skills are essential.
  • Excellent human relations, communications, and member service skills.
  • Cooperative and friendly attitude.
  • Ability to work in groups, occasionally under pressure.
  • Continuous interaction with members, employees, and managers.
